Master's Masonic Message (February 2008)
RESURRECTION- (noun) Rising from the dead……..
Brother's this is the project for the ensuing year. Not saying that our lodge is dead,
but it can rise to the forefront and once again become a huge visible LIGHT in the
community, in the state and more especially in our hearts. I feel that this is going to be
a GREAT year for our lodge and any goal that is put before this lodge can and will be
reached. The first project that is going to be undertaken is the "ROSE" project.
Brother's as Master I feel it is our duty to take care of our widows and constantly
remember them at any time of need.
On Valentine's day we will be delivering roses to our widows. I'm sure it will be an
eventful, emotional and memorable day for all the brothers that can partake and help
deliver these roses, and I am very excited about this project. Any brother wishing to
donate toward the project is welcome to just to cover the price of the roses, and any
brother wishing to help deliver can meet at the lodge at around 8AM, Thursday
morning. More projects will begin as soon as the warmer weather arrives and I will
have them posted.
I would like to congratulate Paul Dugan, Sammy Frazier, Dunovan Cornett, Pat Neff,
Morgan Combs, and James Absher for doing a fine job turning in their proficiencies on
the Master Mason's degree. That is one of the requirements needed to attain the
Excellency Award this year, and just about all of our officers have their proficiency.
I would also like to thank Allen Ross, Pat Neff, Brandon K. Moore, Arius Holbrook,
Dale Everidge, Herman Crase, Morgan Combs, and Roland D. Brown II for visiting the
Vicco Lodge on Monday January 21st. I can honestly say that I was shocked when I
walked in and saw all those faces, it made me very proud to be the Master of this
lodge, and it also reaffirmed me that we are going to have a fantastic year. We only
have to make five more lodge visits like that to accomplish that portion of the
Excellency Award.
Congratulations to Adam Collier and Tom Adams for attaining the rank of Master
Mason on January 26th. Brothers the real journey has just began and let me tell you
that the search for LIGHT only continues…..TRUST ME! I just hope you all enjoy this
great ancient and honorable fraternity as much as I have the short time I've been
involved.
Brothers dues notices have been sent out, so please don't get suspended. Like I
stated in the previous newsletter if you have run upon hard times approach the lodge
and we will see if we can help. Do not be embarrassed or ashamed to ask a brother
to help, that is what we are here for.
Also, beginning the first Saturday of February, any brother wishing to learn their
proficiency on the Entered Apprentice, Fellowcraft, or Master Mason's degree can
come to the lodge at about 9AM to be lectured. Other lectures that will be covered at
these workshops will be the Apron lecture and the Funeral. I'm very excited to get this
started and become more knowledgeable in masonry. This will continue throughout
the year.
Brother's in closing I would like to thank all of you that have came out and enjoyed the
fellowship at our first two meetings, they have been fun, exciting, and educational and
I am very proud with the turnout despite the inclimate weather. There will be an
Entered Apprentice Degree conferred on the first meeting of February and I would like
all that can, to attend. Brother's it is very important that we shine our MASONIC
LIGHT without the doors of the lodge as well as within. If we don't practice Masonry
on the outside, then what is the use in being a MASON. Thanks again for allowing me
to serve you this year as the Master of our lodge, and hopefully I will see you at the
next meeting. "From the craft I came, and to the craft I'll return."
