Master's Masonic Message (January 2008)
How good it is indeed to dwell and labor among the brethren of the ancient,
honorable and sacred fraternity in the Whitesburg Masonic Lodge 754. I am
honored and privileged to be the Master of this great lodge. Thank you from
the top to the bottom of my heart for entrusting me with office, and I will do
everything in my power to make sure you will not be disappointed by placing
me in the oriental chair.
I would like to thank our outgoing master, L.B. Jensen for a wonderful year in
2007. L.B. did an excellent job in 2007 and left me some big shoes to fill, but
I'm going to try to lace them up and take off running with them. Also, I would
like to thank our newly installed Junior Deacon, Sammy Frazier, for the
awesome meals that were provided for each meeting in 2007. Newly installed
Stewards, Morgan Combs and Danny Ison, you too have big shoes to fill but I
believe that you can handle your position. Which brings me to the meal box
located in the lobby of the lodge, brothers what you put in that box is what the
next meal will come from… in other words if you want to eat like a King in King
Solomon's Temple then donate what you can, if you want cheese and crackers
that can be arranged too.
I would like to also thank our Letcher County Jude/Executive and Past Master
Jim Ward for conducting the open installation of our officers. Jim it really
meant a lot to me and to my dad to have you do this, and you did an excellent
job on such short notice and I commend you. I would also like to mention my
coaches, first my coach in masonry, James Profitt, if it hadn't been for you and
your teaching I wouldn't be in the position that I am now. My other coaches, our
Secretary Eddie Bentley and Past Master Ronnie Morgan Jr. for coaching me
when I was in the fourth and fifth grade while I was on the Trailblazers pee-wee
basketball team. The two of you helped me grow into the man I am today with
your instruction and teaching both on and off the court.
And, last and especially not least, my dad Paul Fields. Dad thanks for always
being there for me, through the good times and bad I could always depend on
you to be there for me no matter what the situation. I also thank you for not
telling me anything about the fraternity no matter how hard I pried and
aggravated you while I was growing up thinking that RED ROOSTER was the
word needed to gain admission. You have truly instilled a sense of greatness in
me to strive and achieve all goals that I set for myself and giving me the shoot
for the moon attitude, because even if you miss you land among the stars. It
also hits me deep in my heart that uncle Doyle, Charlie, and Logan Clemons
are not with us here on earth to experience this great feeling… but I know that
they are dwelling in that house not made by hands, but stands eternal in the
heavens.
I've probably took up too much space for the newsletter and people are going
to be upset, but all I can say is, "Sorry." I got carried away. Brothers please
come to the lodge meetings I want to meet or contact each and every one of
you, if you've forgot you've still got a voice on what goes on at the Whitesburg
Masonic Lodge. Also, I would like to urge everybody to attend and or petition
our York Rite bodies, and to wrap this up, dues notices have been sent out.
Please don't get suspended, if you are having a hard time contact a brother or
come before the lodge we may be able to work something out during your
destitute situation. Again, thanks for the trust that you have given me by
allowing me to serve you as Master of this great lodge, and I will not forget,
"FROM THE CRAFT YOU CAME, AND TO THE CRAFT YOU WILL
RETURN".
